Updating to jaguar
Check if you can contact another Jaguar using the same cables and computer, if another Jaguar works properly you need to verify that the spring contacts of the Jaguar CAN port are not bent or pressed in.
Carefully pulling these contacts outwards may result in better connection, causing the Jaguar to function properly again.
I just purchased this one to replace my original 2000 XKR which was totalled (sob! The "new" one has the nav system but i am sure the DVD has never been upgraded. They come up on ebay from time to time, but may not be worth the investment for a 2003 update.
This is the Alpine system which they stopped supplying in 2007. I think there's a link in the FAQ thread that goes into the various versions, but simply put, the last disc from Jag, alpine part BM9JG91F.
Maybe when my company gets their FTP area up and running, I'll give it a go. H2Oboy - Thanks for the info and the offer of your backup disk.
Unfortunately, not being a computer type, I didn't understand most of your message (my fault, not yours) but i have 2 sons-in-law that are big time computer geeks and can interpret for me and make a copy of the disk and return it to you.
The recommended method to do so is by using the serial interface and the BDC-Comm software tool. For updating firmware it is recommended to have the minimum number of devices on the bus.
I can't remember if I tried my original or not, I think I did..at least I hope I did before I junked the nav drive and sold off my 03 disc.
Then, fold the guitar neck backwards so it meets the back of the guitar.
After folding the neck, there will be a small notch under the pickguard for you to pull up the pickguard from.
For Grey Jaguars, you will need to have one Black Jaguar serve as the RS232 to CAN bridge; connect the DB-9 to RJ-11 cable to the left port of a Black Jaguar and a RJ-11 to RJ-11 "reverse" cable between the right port of the Black Jaguar and either port of the Grey Jaguar (for details on this cable, see the CAN cable section on Page 23 of the Jaguar Getting Started Guide.) A progress bar should appear indicating the status of the update process.
When the update completes, the progress bar dialog will disappear and the Firmware Version field on the BDC-Comm page should update to reflect the new firmware.
